Stephanie.

with our holiday coming up, i thought i would share 10 things you should be packing in your carry on for both long haul and short haul flights. all of these items are a must for me and really help to make the journey an easy relaxing one. i don't think anyone really fully loves flying so i try and ensure i have everything i need in my carry on to make the flight as comfortable as possible.

firstly you need to make sure you have a good carry on bag that works for you. i generally take my Antler lightning hardside cabin suitcase or my Guess Luggage duffle bag and a large handbag or backpack to put under the seat.

1. HEADPHONES: it is definitely important to have a good pair of headphones. i like to bring both over-ear headphones and my normal apple headphones. the over-ear ones will block out majority of the outside noise which is perfect for when you want to sleep or watch a movie. i also bring the normal apple earphones in case the over-ear headphones become uncomfortable, plus they are always handy to have with you on holiday.  i recommend these Sony Sound Monitoring Over-Ear Headphones in pink

2. BOOK/IPAD: without a doubt having some form of entertainment whilst flying is a MUST. i like to bring both a book and my ipad for the journey. if you are someone who likes to bring as few items as possible then definitely load up your ipad with both books and movies, but i like to have the separation of the two and not feel like i am looking at a screen the entire time so i bring both.
depending on the airline you are flying with, they may also offer a free app with in-flight entertainment which i recommend downloading before you board, this is a great way to still watch movies and listen to music if you haven't had a chance to download anything yourself prior.  i recommend this book Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeymoon

3. REFRESHING MIST: it is no myth that flying is not great for your skin. i like to bring some sort of refreshing mist or hydrating setting spray with me to just give myself a little skin boost. for short haul flights i will wear makeup for the duration, so i tend to use a setting spray (in a travel size). this still gives me that little bit of freshness and keeps my makeup in tact. for longer flights i like to wear no makeup or at least take it off during the flight. this is where i will bring a refreshing mist that will have benefits to the skin. i recommend the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea 4 in 1 setting mist  (also available in 2 convenient travel sizes)

4. NECK PILLOW: i use to never travel with a neck pillow and would ALWAYS regret it even on the shortest of flights. my neck is always so stiff and sore after every flight (probably because i am so short that i can't use the chair headrest properly), so i have started to bring a neck pillow with me and it really does make a world of difference and definitely helps me be more comfortable. i recommend this one by Korjo; Memory Foam Pillow in black

5. POWERBANK: if you are like me, then you will also like to bring every electronic device you own with you on holiday so a powerbank is a MUST. i generally bring at least my phone and iPad with me on holiday, sometimes even my laptop so it is always handy to have an extra source of power for charging whilst on the plane or travelling between destinations. i recommend the Cygnett ChargeUp Boost Portable Power Bank in Red

6. CAMERA: i always take my camera in my carry on with me for 2 reasons. 1. it avoids it being damaged in my checked luggage 2. i am able to take some high quality of the sunset or sunrise out of the plane and start the holiday memories. having a camera with me is definitely a staple on any holiday i embark on. i recommend the Canon Powershot SX730HS

7. CHEWING GUM: i generally get blocked ears when flying, especially when taking off and landing. so i like to have some chewing gum handy to chew whilst flying. it also comes in handy if you have fallen asleep and want to freshen up your breathe before disembarking. (be careful to check the country you are travelling to's policy on chewing gum though before you bring it along). i recommend the Wrigley's Extra Chewing Gum in Peppermint

8. TRAVEL MAKEUP: a little bag filled with your makeup touch up essentials is definitely something you should be packing in your carry on! there multiple reasons this could come in handy; for example your suitcase could get lost so you may go without for a few days, you may want to redo your makeup whilst on the flight, you may be on a long haul flight and want to apply a fresh face before landing after wearing no makeup for the whole flight and finally you can keep it your handbag for other emergencies during your holiday. i recommend this makeup bag by Kikki K:
Leather Pouch Large

9. FACE MASK: on a long haul flight i think having a face mask is mandatory! the air in the plane can dry out your skin so much so its always a great idea to do everything in your power to avoid drying it out. i recommend doing a sheet mask or even an eye mask during your flight, not only will this help keep your skin in tact but its also a great way to relax. i recommend the Skin Republic Sheet Mask range

10. SOCKS: i dont know about you, but i ALWAYS get cold during flights. i always regret my decision of wearing thongs or sandals as soon as i step onto the plane, so i have started to keep a pair of socks in my bag to avoid being cold. its such a great idea and also can help relax you and aid your sleep. i recommend the Bonds Womens Trainer Sock in the 4 pack (Bonds have the most comfiest socks ever!!!)

what are your top 10 items to have in your carry on whilst traveling?
i would love to know!

the ovation of the seas in milford sounds (can't wait!!)
welcome to another holiday prep blog post!

for some reason these 'what i bought' post are always my favourite to create/write (probably because i am a borderline shopaholic but lets not talk about that)
so far for our 14 day cruise to New Zealand i have picked up a few items. luckily majority of the items i brought were on sale and let me tell you my bank account is extremely thankful for that! #broke
i am finding it hard to know what to be looking for and what to pack as i am getting mixed information on what the weather is going to be like.
but at this stage i am going to pack for more of an atheleisure vibe as this holiday will be a lot more active and adventurous compared to last year holiday.

we have just under 2 months to go until we leave so i think i will start packing soon to work out what i still need to buy. i don't know how people can pack the night before they leave, it literally gives me anxiety just thinking about it. i have to pack then re-pack at least 3 times before we go (help!)

anyway here is what i have accumulated so far:

1. Seed Heritage Rudy Sneaker in White Leopard- $48.00 AUD
2. Billabong Break of Dawn Cap in White- $25.99 AUD
3. Bonds New Era Runner in Navy- $20.97 AUD
4. Billabong Break of Dawn Crew in Rose- $80.00 AUD
5. Bardot Poppy Ruffle Top- $15.00 AUD
6. Pimkie Leaf Print Tropical Swimsuit- $25.00 AUD
7. Fjallraven Kanken Mini in Sky Blue- $86.00 AUD
8. Tony Bianco Ninja Black Suede- $60 AUD
9. Bardot Botanical Playsuit- $45.00 AUD
10. Tony Bianco Henri Caramel Phoenix - $40.00 AUD
11. Bardot Garden Party Dress- $45.00 AUD
12. Mimco Focus Pump in Black- $80.00 AUD

a few of my favourite items are the Billabong Break of Dawn crew and the Bonds New Era shorts. i have been living in the billabong jumper for the past few weeks, it is SO comfy and i REALLY want to get it in white for the holiday aswell but i feel like that may be a little excessive (is it?). the Bonds shorts are also super comfy i picked up the same style in another colour earlier this year and lived in them for the remainder of summer! you really can't beat bonds comfort and material so i am looking forward to wearing them around the ship (if it is warm enough).

i am also looking forward to wearing my new Mimco and Tony Bianco shoes. i feel like both pairs are really functional and both can be worn with jeans aswell as dresses etc. i will more than likely just rotate through these for dinner each night.

so that is it for now, i hope you liked seeing a sneak peak into what my holiday wardrobe is going to look like. i am sure i will keep you updated on my future purchases so stay tuned.
