Holiday Planning: Cruise (just over a month out preparations)

by - October 07, 2017

SO!
we have almost made it, just over a month to go and i am literally counting down the days!!
with being this close, i thought another cruise post was in order with my latest preparations, purchases and tips.
i plan on posting a few packing posts (including what makeup i am taking, my on-board essentials etc) after this one as we get a little closer then it should be sailing/cruise adventure posts from there *yay*

in regards to preparing for the cruise itself, we are now fully checked in with our luggage tags and guest booklets printed off. Royal Caribbean send these to you via email about 50 days out and as we had already checked in at the 90 day mark, we don't need to complete any of the information in the guest booklet.

the guest booklet also provides you with your decks required check in/boarding time so keep an eye out for that. ours is a lot later then we anticipated so we are hoping to be able to board earlier by some miracle.

i have also been keeping an eye on internet packages and the prices but unfortunately i missed out on the sale (not realising that it was a sale) so now i am waiting/hoping they drop again before we go. at the moment internet is $18.13 AUD per day which i don't really want to pay for a 11 day cruise.

if you follow all of my blog posts then you would have seen my 'wishlist' post, well i can confirm i managed to pick up some of the items featured on that post (obviously both were the most realistically priced haha)

the first being the Crow Valley Denim Pinafore from Princess Polly
i am very happy i made this purchase because it is so cute on and so versatile. i plan on wearing this over bathers, over t-shirts, over crop tops and pretty much anything i have already brought that works.
the skirt is very flattering on me compared to if i were to get shorts or full length dungarees as i am pretty short myself so this enables me to wear sandals and off duty sneakers with it without looking stumpy. MEGA WIN

the other item i managed to pick up from my wishlist were the Quay Australia QUAYxDESI High Key sunglasses in Gun Metal and Rose Gold.
these are such a steal!! i love them, i am such a rose gold girl so as you could tell from my wishlist blog post i was sold on these as soon as i saw photos on them.
they are a little big for my face but i think that it also works and if styled correctly you can play off the oversized look. definitely going to be my go to sunnies on this cruise!

that was all i managed to pick up from my wishlist so far (however the ipad is in the horizons before the cruise)

now onto my other purchases... the good thing is i think im pretty much done with shopping for the cruise *que sigh of relief*

Billini Majorca Sandals in Nude Pebble
not going to lie i tossed up between these and the rose gold version for a while until i figured these are a little more subtle and may go with a little more. i managed to pick these up when Peppermayo had a sale so that was a win. cant wait to wear these with almost everything haha

Peppermayo Finnigan Crop in Mauve
i also picked this one up in the sale so it literally cost me nothing with the shoes. this style of top is really in at the moment but i can't say i own/have tried a lot of this style as my boyfriend pointed out when i showed him it.
i love this colour though, it is divine and if i can manage to love it with a strapless bra (the most unflattering thing ever) then it has the potential of looking super cute in multiple outfits. i actually picked this colour especially because how good is it going to look underneath the shade of denim on the pinafore!!! (with my new sandals of cruise).
^if it all goes to plan, this may just be my sail away party outfit^

Nunui Marabella Short in Navy from Surf Dive & Ski
Surf dive & ski had this really great 2 for $50 offer going on in-store when i picked up these (highly recommend snapping up these deals). there is nothing i don't love about a pair of high waisted shorts and these are super flattering even if the picture doesn't do them any justice. these shorts are 100% cotton with a linen look, so they are super comfy and light which makes them perfect for holiday. they also come in a range of colours including blush (which i have my eye on of course)

Spare Springtime Bodysuit in White From Surf Dive & Ski (not online but different colour linked & pictured)
unfortunately the white bodysuit isn't anywhere online, so i have pictured the striped one. but basically this bodysuit was also included in the 2 for $50. you could pick from a bodysuit, crop top or normal singlet, i picked a bodysuit as i find them the most flattering for me out of the options and it was the nicest looking one there. thinking about it now i actually probably could have gotten the blush shorts in the 2 for $50 deal but oh well everyone needs a plain white body suit.
this body suit is also super comfy and light so again perfect for summer and holiday.

Thrills East Coast Crop Muscle Tee
i picked up this muscle tee also from Surf Dive and Ski on sale (win). this is super casual easy to throw on top that i plan to wear before/after swimming or on shore excursions etc. it looks super cute with the navy Nunui shorts and will also go with a high waisted denim skirt or shorts depending on the look i'm going for.

Quicksilver Reef Walker Aqua Shoes
these are definitely not my most fashionable item purchased for the cruise but we need them for when we go snorkeling etc on the islands. i picked these up from the local Boating, Camping & Fishing (BCF) store and i actually got them in a kids size 4 because my feet are small enough so they worked out cheaper then the adult pair (mega bonus because i'm never going to wear them again lets face it)

Tarte Limited Edition Skin Win Hydrating Skincare Set
set includes:
- drink of h2o hydrating boost moisturiser
- maracuja oil
- rainforest of the sea 4 in 1 setting mist
- quench lip rescue in shell (sheer mauve)
i picked this set up when Tarte had free shipping on their site and this set was exactly what i was after. i get quite dehydrated skin so i needed travel sized options to bring my skin back to life without having to pack multiple full sized products. i have heard only good things about the h2o moisturiser and maracuja oil so i am excited to try these and share my reviews. plus they are so cute and mini so i couldn't say no haha. this set was $28 AUD which i don't think is too bad.

Tarte Brighter Days Travel Size Moisturizer
i picked this up in the same order as the set, and again this was perfect as it is travel sized. i have also heard nothing but good things about this moisturiser so i am looking forward to trying it (i would have tried it already but i don't want to open it then run out on holiday haha)
i choose this product due to the recommendations from the girls who vlogged their trip with tarte when they went to Hayman Island here in Australia and used all the products in this range so going by what they said, it should be the perfect holiday moisturiser.

😇
i have also started picking up the basics like sunscreen, tanning oil, body wash etc on my weekly groceries shop, if you get one a week you wont notice it too much on your bank account. i think buying everything new when it comes to toiletries is a good idea as it has less chance of exploding in your luggage.

CRUISE TIPS:
- buy disposable shower caps (i picked mine up from my local $2 store) and put your shoes in them in your luggage. this prevents all your clothes from potentially getting dirty.
- buy some anti-bacterial wipes and give your room a once over when you arrive, obviously they are cleaned by the staff but its always a good idea to be extra sure give the room a once over.
- hand santiser is also good idea to have handy during the cruise, use it before eating, using public restrooms/places or even when onshore to ensure you don't end up setting sick.
- get a bulldog clip or similar and use it to secure your towel to a chair in the morning that way its yours all day and you don't have to worry about your towel flying away.

that's all for this post i think, hopefully if i can get my butt into gear i will have a few more cruise related posts up in the next few weeks before we leave but until then don't forget to check out my last two in this 'series'
xx
