Stephanie.

this post is about 3 months late but here i am! to be honest i cant even believe its been 3 months already since we got home from the cruise. time literally flies
i was going to write an in-depth day to day post (or several) about the cruise but i figured it will probably be more enjoyable to have some more photos to view. but please feel free to contact me via email, on here or on any of my socials (instagram @lifebyssblog) if you have any questions on the cruise etc!
i would highly recommend cruising and exploring the south pacific islands! we cruised with Royal Caribbean on the Explorer of the Seas and loved every minute of it. i don't think we have any complaints at all.

Our first stop: Lifou Loyalty Islands Vanuatu
Second Stop: Port Vila Vanuatu

i thought i would spilt the photos up over two posts otherwise the scrolling would be real so stay tuned for the next one to go up (days 6-12). i hope you have enjoyed a little insight into our holiday.
the Port Vila buggy tour was sooo much fun but as you can see very dirty, we literally could not see a thing whilst driving it was hilarious but probably really dangerous at the same time (oops). i think i was still finding dirt in places i never thought it could go a week later hahaha.

January is over (finally), i always find that January seems to go forever but we made it!

this month wasn't a huge month in terms of favourites as i spent half the month on holidays on the couch, so there weren't many opportunities to buy and try new products.

i brought myself the Fenty foundation and primer for Christmas so over January i have been putting them to the test.

i can confirm that this foundation has officially become my 'go-to' foundation. it is honestly amazing and i cannot recommend it enough. it leaves my skin looking smooth, silky and poreless. i was a bit apprehensive whilst using it the first few times and didn't think it suited my skin type but after really focusing on my application technique i cant fault it.

i generally have dry to combination skin, it can be VERY dry in spots but as long as i have moisturised before hand i have no issue with this foundation being matte. i would say the coverage is medium to full if you are willing to build it up. i am a strictly full coverage girl and the coverage of Rihanna's foundation hasn't failed me.

there is literally not one bad thing i can say about this foundation. even my shade is PERFECT, i mean have never had a foundation that has matched me this well EVER (i am shade 150).
all and all if you know how to apply it properly (i swear by a beauty blender) then this foundation is a must!
ps. i did buy and test out the Fenty Beauty foundation brush but i just don't love it, i think the foundation goes on much better with a beauty blender.

of course this a favourite of mine this month, it goes hand in hand with the foundation and it really does give the foundation a better finish. i wouldn't use the foundation with any other primer to be honest. (i always find primers and foundations to work better if they are the same brand, i have learnt in my beauty journey to not mix the two)

i have found this primer works best and really covers your pores when you rub it into your fingers to heat it up a little then pat it into your face in a downwards motion. it actually gives a really nice smooth finish and is the perfect matte formula.
i am yet to try this under any of foundations but i think it compliments the Fenty foundation and the skin really well.

this stuff has changed my life (and my skin) forever!!
i have actually had this product in my collection since September last year but didn't think much of it, until now..

i had read a tip by a beauty influencer to apply the oil after applying your moisturiser i thought i would give it a go. after doing this a few times i really started to notice a difference in my skin, my skin was a lot clearer and the congestion that i have been fighting for months was finally going away. hallelujah!!! i have tried so many products and nothing has worked until this oil.

what seems to work for me is to apply my moisturiser then place some of the Maracuja oil into my fingers and massage it into my face. you look abit oily afterwards so probably best to do this at night time when you don't have to leave the house but the results are well worth the oiliness.
i generally leave it to sink into my skin over night and in the morning i wake up looking dewy and feeling soft (no sign of oiliness).

i 100% recommend this product and can't wait to discover the other benefits it has. i will definitely we investing in the bigger bottle next time i am at sephora!

i hope you enjoyed my favourites for the month of January! hopefully Feb has a little more.
have you had any favourites this month? if so i would love to know, so please link me to your posts xxx

Valentines day: a day of romance.
unfortunately with romance comes price. Valentines day can be one of the most expensive days of the year for you and your significant other.
this year i want to celebrate without going over the top and spending money on all the commercialised BS. my boyfriend and i have decided to ditch the presents this year and focus on the true meaning of Valentines day.

so with that, i have been brainstorming date ideas for us that wont break the bank and thought i would also share them with you!

1.INDOOR PICNIC
throw down a blanket and throw up some fairy lights in your living room or bedroom and have a romantic picnic inside without the bugs and birds. get out the picnic basket and fill it with your favourite finger foods; sandwiches, dips and cheese, breads, cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries or whatever you fancy.

2. DESSERT DATE
skip dinner entirely and head straight to your favourite dessert place (preferably one with candle light) or make your favourite desserts at home.

3.GAMES NIGHT
head to your favourite arcade or bowling alley and have some friendly competition. these dates are always end in fun and laughter. plus, you can win your valentine a present (if that doesn't scream cute i don't know what does)

4. NETFLIX & TAKE OUT
order your favourite takeouts and stock up on some of your favourite snacks together and chuck on your favourite series or movie on netflix- your night is set (or for those who don't have netflix like me, harry potter will do). basically like going for dinner and to the movies but in the comfort of your own home in your pyjamas.

5. ICECREAM & STARGAZING
head to your nearest look out or even venture a little further with ice-cream or dessert in hand and look at the stars and the city lights.  guaranteed to be romantic!

6. MINI GOLF
mini golf is one of my favourite things to do with my boyfriend, it is always guaranteed to be fun! but if this is something you don't do all the time then research the BEST mini golf in your area and book it in.

i hope these ideas have given you some inspo (especially you bae if you are reading this).
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY LOVERS.

please credit me if you are going to use these ideas for a blog post of your own :)

SO happy new year!!!
(at what point does it become unacceptable to say this?.... i mean its practically the end of January but)

the first post of 2018. it is still so crazy to me that its 2018, i honestly cant deal with how fast last year went.

this year i am making a pledge to try and be more active and health conscious. i have joined a new gym literally a minute from my house so there are NO excuses not to go. the plan is to go at least 5 times a week, i don't really want to achieve anything particular and restrict myself to only training certain things. i am just going with the mindset to try feel more body confident and happy in my skin.

so with that being said, its only necessary to want some new gym gear and accessories.
(i don't know about you but i am always 100% more motivated when i have something new to wear/use)

Nike Epic Lux Running Tights $110
Black/Anthracite/Gunsmoke
i find shopping for tights SO hard especially because everything full length is always too long for me then everything 7/8 is always full length so i cant really win. but i have found that Nike do the best tights and i can generally work with their sizing. i LOVE these tights, i already have them in 3 different colours/lengths (capri & 7/8) but they fit perfectly and are super comfy. i am all here for the design of these because they aren't plain but also don't have a crazy print on them. definitely will be the first item i purchase from this list.

Nike Pro HyperCool Training Tight $90
Gunsmoke/Heather/Volt Glow
i am also looking to branch out from the Epic Lux tight this year and try a different style of Nike tight. i like the design of the Nike Pro and it would be interesting to see if their 'hypercool' technology makes any difference during training. i like the colour of these and funnily enough i don't actually own a pair of grey tights. these are definitely something i will be looking to invest in, hopefully they aren't too long *que eyeroll*

Nike Lunar Charge Essential Shoes $160
White/Grey/Black
i. love. these.
literally from the moment i laid eyes on these i knew i had to have them!! Nike, why do you do this to me.
these are described as "lifestyle shoes with an innovative design to incorporate the support and comfort of a training shoe", so i think they would be perfect for the gym.

Nike Air Rally Crew Sweatshirt $85
Purple/Black
i am all for comfort so of course i had to include some sort of pre/post gym gear. i generally am not a colour type of girl, i normally stick to your standard monochrome colours but i came across this sweatshirt and i really like the colour. i think it could easily be styled with any colour tights aswell as trackpants for post gym comfort.

Nike Drawstring Bag $20
Lilac & Black
gym bags are one thing i don't own, usually i just chuck all my stuff in a shopping bag. but if i am going to go to the gym 5 days a week i probably should invest in one. i don't want anything too big so i think this design works and will be effective enough.

Beats X Wireless In-Ear Headphones $199.95
White
i don't know about you but i HATE trying to work out with a cord dangling in front of me with my phone stuffed into my tights. so its only necessary a pair of wireless headphones made my wishlist. my boyfriend uses these at the gym on a daily basis and highly recommends them.

Nike Indy Soft Training Bra $59
Particle Rose & Pure White
this made it onto my wishlist for two reasons: 1. its blush 2. its blush.
i have 2 indy bras already and like them for lower intensity activities as there are comfortable and are probably one of the more 'stylish' sports bras on the market.

Ivy Park Logo Mesh Insert Bra $44
Grey/Black
i haven't tried any of the Ivy Park range before but i am keen to see what all the fuss is about.

Fitbit AltaHR $249
i have recently been using the Fitbit Flex 2 and love it. i am literally obsessed with trying to meet my daily steps especially working in an office, it has been interesting to know how long i am stationary every hour and how many steps i take in an average day. its such an easy way to check your sleep too. but since its now always on my wrist and has basically replaced the ability to wear a watch, i would love to upgrade to the Fitbit AltaHR which has the heart rate monitor and watch.

Nike Printed Training Gloves $42
lifting weights with rings on generally kills my hands/fingers so this year i want to invest in some training gloves to solve all my issues.

so i probably should have realised that almost every item was going to be Nike.
i hope this post gave you some inspo and motivation to reach your active goals this year with some new gear.

all products are linked.

this year i was pretty spoilt, my boyfriend and i tend to go a little OTT on presents.
i am writing this post to share with you what i was gifted, as personally i LOVE reading these types of posts.

my favourite gift this year was probably the Harry Potter pyjamas and slippers my boyfriend got me from Peter Alexander. they are so cute and at the moment my Harry Potter obsession is at an all time high (if that’s even possible) so i was very excited when I opened this one.

along with the Harry Potter pyjamas, i also received a Harry Potter film wizardry book, a puzzle, checkers and some Pop Vinyls.

Santa (aka myself) got me the Fenty Beauty foundation, primer and foundation brush. i can confirm that it is amazing!!! (there will be a review post) aswell as some makeup brushes and a onboard antler suitcase. i am crazy i know

every year its nice to receive some sort of perfume/fragrance, this year my parents brought me the Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh gift set. i am such a Marc Jacobs fragrance girl so this was a nice edition.

if you saw my Christmas Wishlist post you would be happy to know i was lucky enough to get two items from there; the vans and earrings.

i got a few keepsakes and little gifts this year, my favourite being a 'what i love about you' book from my boyfriend, it has 50 things pages of things he loves about me and it is SO CUTE. i also received two mugs and two jewellery stands (all from ASOS, all on my ASOS wishlist) so i guess people know me pretty well hahaha.

how cute are the 'santa jaws' socks!! and that sausage dog soap smell amazing (i probably will never use it lets face it, i don't want to destroy the dog he is too cute).

i hope you all had a wonderful Christmas this year! if you have done a post or video about what you got aswell this year then definitely feel free to link me as they are some of my favourite posts to read!!

DAY 12

day 12, new years resolutions. i can't believe another year is over just like that and what a year it has been. honestly this year has been mentally challenging but i am happy with what i have managed to achieve.
i managed to buy a new car (which was a goal of mine at the end of 2016), go on two amazing holidays and complete a qualification. its crazy how quickly a year can fly by.

for 2018, i have a few new years resolutions. starting with being more positive. i tend to be quite negative at times, especially when its to do with change or something out of my comfort zone. i like things to be structured and planned so when things don't go to plan or the way I've thought them out i can get pretty negative.
in 2018 i would love to just be more relaxed and open minded. all round just a little more positive. i don't really like to admit that i tend to be a negative but i think its time i start to focus on it and really try and work on it. i guess i have realised that you aren't going to get much out of life if you think about things negatively and at the end of the day you aren't going to live a full life if you don't step out of your comfort zone and try new things.

"Don't let yesterday take up too much of today." - Will Rogers

my second resolution for 2018 is to save more and spend more. save more money and spend more time experiencing things that you can't put a price tag on. 2017 has been a big year of me spending money on some things for experiences (like holidays, my car etc) and some (a lot) of materialistic goods. don't get me wrong i love shopping but it has come to a point where i don't even get adequate use of items before i am onto something new.
in 2018, i want to take the time to save and start focusing on the prospects of owing a home and the future. i want to travel and save enough to really enjoy it (PS we booked another cruise). i want to try new things and go to more concerts or to more shows and really enjoy the moment and experience.
i find that i feel my voids with shopping and if i am feeling sad or annoyed or even bored i will shop, this new year i am really going to try and find other things to make me 'happy' and fulfil me.
in 2018 i want to be more nurturing to my body and mind. i want to really focus on me and having a happy and full year. i plan on getting back into the gym (come back to me motivation) and getting back to where i am happy with my body. in saying this, i also want to learn to love myself who i am and for what i have got and not compare myself to others.
i want to expand my mind and read more books especially self help books and learn to grow my self esteem. i also want to stop searching for everyones approval and do things that i want to do. i think these days with so much of our lives online, we think its necessary to fit in and do what everyone else is doing and get the likes and share our purchases and 'fancy' moments, because of this we get the mindset that everything needs to be a certain way to 'upkeep' our online imagine. in 2018 i really i want to stop giving a f*ck about what i think people think of me and do me and focus on what is going to make me feel good internally and externally.

so in saying all this, i hope 2018 is another safe and healthy year for me, you and all our loved ones. may there be more peace and laughter in the world in 2018 and thankyou for joining me on this journey this year, i am looking forward to what the New Year brings.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

DAY 11

i felt like today deserved two posts considering that they are both pretty short posts and its Christmas eve eve!! i can't believe there is only 1 day to go and that 12 days went so quickly!!

so i thought two days out is the perfect time to share with my last minute Christmas treat 'recipe' for Reindeer biscuits. these are super easy to make and if you have kids also super fun for them to get involved with!

Reindeer Biscuits

What you will need:
- Arnott's Milk Arrowroot Biscuits (1 packet)
- Nutella Spread (or melted chocolate or anything spreadable of your choice)
- Pretzels
- Smarties or M&Ms
- anything else you want to decorate the face

What to do:
- lay biscuits flat on a tray or flat surface
- spread nutella (or chocolate) over the biscuits covering the whole surface. you can do this as thick or as thin as you like
- place a smartie as a nose
- snap pretzel in half and place as two antlers
- place in fridge or leave to harden at room temperature. i like the nutella to be a little set but if you can easily enjoy them straight away!

i hope you enjoy

Merry Christmas
